Hurtado Zimmerman S.C. shares Maker Faire Milwaukee’s STEM education mission and commitment to increasing access to the tools and technology revolutionizing how we live, work and learn. Our firm will once again support this annual event through our Day of Service Program with employees volunteering to help staff the Faire’s Education Day programs on Friday, September 24 and its free admission days on September 25 & 26. This year, the Faire will be held at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The campus community will join the event as exhibitors and educators, reflecting the growing impact of the Maker Movement on higher education and emerging fields in business and industry.
The dynamics of the Maker Movement are increasingly relevant to addressing long-term pandemic impact on school systems and issues of access to education and talent development opportunities that are critical to economic wellbeing and social justice. This year’s Faire will be an important destination for educators, employers, families, and other community members who want to learn about and adapt examples from other maker communities to local challenges.
The Faire is also – and always – a celebration of the can-do spirit of makers. The Forbes 2020 Technology Awards recognized makers as the year’s Most Disruptive Innovators for sharing prototypes, manufacturing, and distributing personal protective equipment at the beginning of the pandemic. Local makers who were part of this incredible effort will exhibit this year at the Faire. The Faire welcomes makers of all ages and backgrounds to participate in the Faire – the Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth! Those who want to exhibit can do so through the Call for Makers.
