Relying extensively on volunteer labor, Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County builds decent, affordable homes for families who are unable to purchase a home through traditional methods. Habitat does not give houses away; it believes in giving a hand up, not a hand out. By providing a home with an affordable mortgage, homeowners obtain self-sufficiency and break the cycle of poverty.
Partner families contribute “sweat equity” hours in place of a down payment. Volunteers contribute time and talent to reduce labor costs. Donations of money and construction materials further reduce construction cost.
Founded in 1989, Habitat of Waukesha has built over 30 homes and has helped many families bridge the housing gap.
Hurtado Zimmerman SC is proud to help advance Habitat’s mission. Since 2009, Brian Zimmerman has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County, and is the longest serving current member of the Board.
Under the guidance and assistance of Hurtado Zimmerman SC, in 2014 Habitat of Waukesha opened a ReStore in Waukesha. The ReStore sells new and like-new donated furniture, appliances, construction-related items and household goods that help to fund the mission and serve the Community at large with fantastic bargains
