Bob brings a unique perspective to the practice of business law with an undergraduate Business Administration degree that includes a double major in Accounting and Finance. He also gained experience working in the tax department at an accounting firm (Arthur Anderson & Co. in Milwaukee) following law school, which provided him with knowledge in accounting and taxation that he has used in his law practice. While at the accounting firm, he also received a Certified Public Accountant Certificate. The degrees and work experience have been invaluable in understanding the financial and tax aspects of business transactions.
The focus of Bob’s practice includes business formations, business sales and purchases, estate planning, probate, real estate sales and purchases, tax planning and tax audits. He has advised businesses from one person ownership up to multimillion dollar companies. In addition, he has negotiated sales of businesses that range upwards to nearly 100 million, but also has assisted clients in the purchase and sale of small businesses and residential property.
Bob also regularly helps clients navigate Wisconsin and IRS tax audits, files appeals, communicates with the agency involved and successfully helps clients resolve issues and negotiate settlements.
He has extensive experience in counseling clients on estate planning matters. Bob meets with clients, formulates a plan, and prepares estate planning documents, including marital property agreements and trusts. He also assists clients after a death with probate and transfer of assets.
Bob currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Walter Alexander Foundation (Non-Profit). He previously served on the Finance Committee for St. Michael Parish in Wausau, WI for 30 years and was also President of a 30 member law firm for many years.
